National Grid
National Grid has launched Enabling, a new Employee Resource Group (ERG) designed to create a more inclusive environment for families, care takers, friends of and employees with disabilities. Enabling is one of many ERGs* within National Grid that advise and guide the company on various business and corporate culture initiatives. The ERGs are open to all employees.
"The launch of Enabling is a logical next step in our commitment to an inclusive and diverse work environment that leverages the talents of its people," said Neddy Perez, National Grid Vice President, Inclusion and Diversity. "As we strive to create a more inclusive corporate culture, we want our employees, their families and our community to know we are committed to removing barriers and addressing their needs."

Established by NBDC to enable members to share information on best practices with regard to Disability Affinity-Employee Resource Groups, several members participated by providing information about their company’s group. The information included the group name, how and when it was founded, its mission/goal, structure and meeting schedule, the most innovative aspect of the program, the greatest challenge in getting it started, tips to maintaining momentum, and guidance they could offer to other NBDC members interested in starting similar groups.

As summarized in last month’s e-newsletter, The NBDC has recently established a Disability Affinity/Resource Group Consortium to enable NBDC members to share information on best practices with regard to Disability Affinity/Resource Groups, with a view toward bringing representatives of the various groups together.
Several NBDC members provided information about their company’s group, which included the group name, how and when it was founded, its mission/goal, structure and meeting schedule, the most innovative aspect of the program, the greatest challenge in getting it started, tips to maintaining momentum, and guidance they could offer to other NBDC members interested in starting similar groups.
